Shot this guy last year at the Savannah Wildlife Refuge. Not only do they use the stripes in the neck to match the surrounding reeds, they actually sway their neck back and forth as the winds blows the reeds around.

EOS 1vHS, 500mm IS, tripod, Provia 100F, exposure not recorded.

Wonderful image of a good looking bittern.

The only thing I see that I'd change is a bit more room at the bottom for his virtual feet.

Good exposure and focus.

Robert,

Good to see you posting again. Getting a clean image of this guy in the open is difficult. Well done.

Jim

Hi Jim,

Been busy with work and fed up with dial up. Just got DSL and I feel refreshed and ready to go. Thanks.

Robert,

A nice habitat shot, you did well to get a clear shot at one.

Great view of this guy! A little tight at the bottom, but otherwise really nice. Tough bird!
