House Sparrow Passer Domesticus

Nikon D100 with Nikkor 500 f/4 and 1.4x TC, Gitzo tripod with Wimberly head
180 sec- f/10 , 0 EV, ISO 200, TTL flash, USM, etc. in PS CS

I cloned an extra berry or two ( or three - now don't look ! - ) I hope your eyes stay on the sparrow rather than the berries. I would have preferred a prettier perch, but...
I have been immersed in my new system for 2-3 weeks now and wanted to post before I was forgotten. :) All comments and critiques are very welcomed!

A very nice compostion and detail overall -- coming in a little over on contrast.

Well done, Laurel. I like it very much. Even though I see a few small hot spots, exposure is good.

Other than just a few easily fixed hot spots this is a winner. Congrats!

I see the contrast, Brian as I just looked at the image on the laptop I would normally post with. I'm new to PS CS ( trying to learn it) and now I'm curious why such an intense and startling difference -( I also have a new desktop and monitor I'm trying to adjust to, and stepping "up" - guess I expected an "automatic" improvement. Hope the calibration software I have asked Santa for will help. :)

Just corrected on desktop and when viewed on laptop, I completely overcorrected. Sorry about the post - I would never leave a hot spot intentionally. Hurry, calibration software. :)

You're getting there with this one. It takes a little time to get everything figured out but you've done fine so far. A little contrasty but it would depend on what monitor you were viewing it on as to how contrasty.

Repost from Paint Shop editing onl laptop as BNS ( before new system) - to my eye this does not compare to the finished product from the new desktop and PS CS, that is until I viewed it on the laptop. My ( new) wireless link was finicky about d/l the original NEF, so I quit at half a bird and did not rework the berries. Interesting the difference, though neither compare to what I think I see from PS CS- :)

Sweet shot of a Sparrow. "Don't look at the Berries" eh? That's like saying, don't think of an Elephant, what ever you do :)

Nice twig & Berries laurel. I like the warmer version.

Let's see - this edited ever so slightly ( sat, USM ) in PS CS, saved as TIFF from Capture, rather than highest quality jpg, which has show the optimal image on my monitor so far. Too many software options for me at this point.:) I like this one.

Very nice overall presentation on this one Laurel. The berries and perch work very well. Keep working on photo shop end of things, the last post is flat but shows more detail than the first.

I see you're having problems with your image. If you'ld like me to try converting it to see what I can do, email me and I'll give you an email address where you can send the NEF. I can send you back the settings I used and what I did in photoshop.

BTW, the biggest issue with the D100 is the 1/180 maximum shutter speed when using a flash. It's pushing the extremes when you're using a 500 and a 1.4x.
