I went back out to the Pawnee today and had a fantastic raptor day. Including male and female merlins, prairie falcons, golden eagles, rough legged hawks. This little male had just finished a meal (which is how I almost always find them), so he posed very nicely. I wish I could have gotten more direct sunlight on him, but I still like the soft colors. The males with the buff blue back are just beautiful. Taken 1/2 hour before sunset.

Boy....have you ever hit the mother lode this week. Another excellent raptor shot. I rather like the lighting as is....you haven't lost any detail and it certainly gives the feel of a late afternoon. Keep cranking 'em out...I love them.

Nice lookback shot, Rob. The head is spotlighted very well. I wish the BG were darker to add drama to the image.

Awesome bird and excellent pose. I think a little less ambient exposure and then augmenting with flash would bring the shadowed/unshadowed areas in better balance.

Very nice -- lighting though harsh worked in your favor here.
