Cape St. Mary's, Newfoundland

The heavy fog provided us with wonderful soft wrap-around lighting, and a heavenly diffused background. A quick tweak in postproduction increased the contrast, making for a beautiful gannet portrait.

Inclement weather has afforded me the opportunity to produce many of my favorite images.

Sweet Chas, these are wonderful birds! Beautiful portrait. I love the natural look particularly with no catch-light in the eye.

Ah....fogland. A beautiful gannet portrait. I won't soon forget that place and that incredible last day.....my wrist was actually sore from shooting so much. You certainly proved that you could get good images in less than perfect conditions.

Chas,

Wonderful portrait. This reminds me of the great STL adventure in Newfogland. The next time I shoot on such an incline I hope I plan ahead and take some snap on spikes.

Jim, I bought a pair of inexpensive YAKTRAX for just such a purpose. Get the newer Pro model with built in velcro strap, the other tends to pop off.
