Purple Sandpiper (Brooklyn, NY)

These birds are a amazing, incredibly approachable and such odd looking birds. I have plenty of shots with unobstructed views but I liked this one because it places the bird in it's rocky habitat. Comments and Crits encouraged. Will be my last post for awhile I imagine as I eagerly await leaving for florida on sunday morning.

Lovely bird -- I didn't know they came in purple
Only thing I might try is to crop out some of the OOF foreground rocks.

nice, I also would crop about half of the foreground rocks-they really do not add much other than to anchor the front of the photo, really like the background-would not crop any of the bkgrd rocks.

abie, I think if you showed us more of the bird we would still get the rock enviorment. I like the green moss too.

Abie,

This is very nice. The bird in its environment is well presented. The foreground rocks would be more effective - in this case - if you were able to get more depth of field and get them in a little better focus. That's just my 2¢.

Well, Lucky you!!!!!
One of these little out of wedlock birds stood Jill and me up for a good three hours at Biscayne National Park!!!, It never showed up !!!!
From what I hear they are very approachable but they don't care much for keeping appointments!!!

Alex if your ever in New York this time of year, this spot under the Verrazzano has never failed me, literally 50 feet from the car I've seen as many as 30, I had almost 10 today in only a 20 minute stop on the way home.

I like the environmental feel of this one but would like a touch more bird and a touch less foreground. I didn't get one this year but will hope for one next year. Nice job with the detail on this guy.....he's very attractive.
