This one has been visiting our backyard feeder for the last 3 weeks. It usually pauses on the fence post. On one occasion when I was topping up the feeder the Nuthatch landed on the feeder rail, I leaned down very slowly, to get a better look and was no more than 8-10 inches face to face for about 15 seconds. It is such a sweet bird!

This image was made the during the first visits. As I was not sure how the bird would react to my presence, I was quite a distance from this perch, thus it is heavily cropped; about 40% of original.

Thanks for looking, and as always, for your comments,

Latafat

It looks like if you could attach a nice perch to the railing you could get innumerable awesome shots of this bird. I love the background.

Very nice. :)

I like everything about the image -- I agree on attaching a perch to the post for more opportunities and that the image has a touch of grain.

Wonderful morsel, great composition, and nice detail, Noise Ninja for the grain and a touch of contrast or mid-tones to make him pop a little more, Great capture as is!!! Congrats!!! 8)

Lat,

Nice shot. I like the pose.

It would definitely be worthwhile to set up a perch for this guy. It looks like you have a nice background to work with.

This really is nice. I love the bird's pose here. I'm also seeing the grain that Alan mentioned which would be a pretty easy fix in PS if you were so inclined. :) I hope to see some more shots of this guy!

What a wonderful shot! He looks much more like a cousin to a chickadee than a white-breasted nuthatch. Just adorable!
