This individual is wintering in Puerto Rico. Notice that this species loses the spots in winter.
The bird was limping, and after I uploaded the shot to the computer, I noticed a red spot on his upper left leg.
The yellowish glow on the water? The reflection of a big, yellow kayak laying over the sand beyond the photo.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. Did a little USM do the job?

Interesting shot of a great bird. The light is wonderful. The bird is a little soft as presented and the bill tends to blend in a little. Otherwise very nice. The green algae is a great addition.

José ,

Welcome to NatureScapes. This is a very nice first post. Looks like another shot or two of USM would really make this one pop.

Again, welcome. I look forward to seeing more of your work. :D
