This is very nice John. love the preening. I might consider cloning out that one trail of do-do.

Brilliant saturation and a nice preening pose. I concur about cloning out the doo-doo.

Interesting shot, John. What I find most difficult at La Jolla is timing the shot when the waves are not crashing with peak action from the subject. That is the only detractor here. It seems to have a slight blue cast. Very nice composition.

The colors are great, wish the Texas Pelicans had this much color.

You did well under overcast conditions with these guys. I like the pose and the detail. The colors are a bit cool as already mentioned. Was this digital or with velvia? I'm confused by your tech info, Canon 1d, velvia film.

Why do the left coast pelicans get all the cool colors. Ours are fun in FL, but just don't know how to dress before going out.

A very good shot! Greg's suggestion is a good one, be very aware of what is happening with the waves behind the bird for the very best shots.
