This is Shadowfax, a Lanner falcon performing at the Birds in Motion flying show, Grouse Mountain BC. I've cropped the image by about 25%

Hi, Stu!

There may be some "hot spots" here but I like the swooping pose and blurred wingtips. The diagonal compostion is very pleasing. That look is very intense!

Greg and I might have a chance to meet a falconer in a few weeks and I was debating about photographing the birds.

Love the intense look and the diagonal composition. Wish that the bird were a bit higher, against blue sky, so that it would stand out a bit more.

(Heather, take your camera stuff, including some for extreme closeups if you get the chance; you'll be sorry if you don't. I have some that I'll likely post some day.)

Hi Heather,

Thanks! I highly recommend taking the camera along for the birds. I've got some great closeups of the falcons, hawks and eagles.

Rich, I've got one where the falcon is higher up but it shows her back more rather than the face, this had more impact I thought.

Looks like you got great detail in the face and the eyes. Nicely done.
