Ft. DeSoto, North Beach.

I have noted that I have more success at North Beach when the tides are high. High tide was 6:10 AM The levels 2 Sundays mornings ago were the highest I've seen since I started going there 1 1/2 years ago. Using a 600 lens and moving about slowly allows one to isolate on a single bird. Only after the level dropped significantly did the spoonbills take flight.

10D, 600IS, fill at -1.7, full frame, no crop.

Reposts and critiques welcome.

Another very nice shot. The light is excellent and you got so close. I think I prefer the first one though primarily due to the squarish crop on this one.

Another beauty, Jim. Aside from wanting more room at the bottom and a bit less on the right side, I believe everything else is on target.

Nice one Jim. Just where is this DeSoto place??? <smile>

I like the composition as is; if anything, I'd crop a teench more off the bottom to get rid of the tiny bit of body reflection.

Best, Artie

Jim,
I really like this one. It has a very serene look to it. This is enhanced by the pastel colors

She's a beauty, Jim. Fort de Soto Park is one of Florida's best! I'll leave the directions to you.

This is really beautiful, lovely light, calm water and seemingly relaxed bird. I would tend to agree with Sandy on the crop suggestions. One thing I especially like is the angle of the head that shows off the eye and bill.

Lovely light and great colours. I like the crop, but tend to agree with getting rid of a touch more off the bottom to exclude the body reflection.

Wonderful as is, but interesting set of suggestions. (I'm inclined to agree with AlexC with a bit of cloning.) I'm with E.J. in preferrring the first shot, but then that makes this one my second favorite spoonbill shot.

Hi Jim!

This is very sweet light. I think I would crop a bit from the bottom--or clone out the tail reflection.

I am planning on being out there Saturday--and perhaps another day too this long weekend.

Jim,

These spoonbill posts have been so nice. The morning must have been one of those rare times where you knew from the start that it was going to be a good day. I think the quality of the light is outstanding.

This image is very nice but like E.J., I prefer the first on you posted. It's still nice having multiple images to choose from, isn't it? :D
