Image was captured on my BB trail in Central Iowa this past August.

Canon 10D / 400 2.8 L / ISO 100 1/500 f/8 550EZ -1 1/3.

The angle is a little steep, however, I still like the overall feel of it.

Thanks in advance for any and all comments!

A colorful bird....and the dinner is a bonus. I'm not sure whether it is oversharpened or too contrasty but it's especially evident on the perch. I've certainly not had any luck getting a good image of one of these...nice capture.

Cool perch and nice pose. I would like to see a head turn toward the camera as sometimes that will diminish the upward shooting angle. The meal is always a great bonus. This looks a little oversharpened but that could just be my monitor. Enough with being picky.

Overall, a very nice image!!

Nice catch, for you and the bird. ;) I agree that the perch looks a tad over-sharpened. In a situation like this one I usually select only the bird when applying USM, or at least for the most part. I agree the angle is not ideal, nor is the background, but it's still a very nice shot.

All the nits have been mentioned. The bird looks good as does the perch.

A very nice shot with a good perch but the photo has way too much contrast.

Scott,

Nice shot. The colors look good and the dinner is a bonus. A little head turn toward the camera would make this image even better.

Very nice image. Only two small nits: a touch oversharpened and could possibly use a bit more room on top.

Hi Scott,

This spring you should attatch some perches to the nest boxes on your blue bird trail. Chances are you will be able to get one to pose for you. Especially if you offer a small tray of meal worms as a modeling fee. This should provide a more pleasing angle and likely a better BG.

Try to get them early in the season before too many trips in and out of the box causes the feathers to be worn.
