This image was made after many frustrating attempts at getting Snow Buntings on clean snow (they would only go if you tossed some seed, which rendered the snow no longer clean). I found a large chunk of snow and ice and placed it on top of one of the many rock perches set up by our feeding station (thanks to Artie for springing for the bird seed and for being a great bird poop cleaner) :)

Eos 1v, 500mm IS, 1.4x or 2x TC? Provia rated Normal.

Thanks for looking and for your honest critiques.

Great capture! I love the color shift from top to bottom as well as the over the wing look.

Great light and shooting to you all!

Brian,

I remember this one from elsewhere. This image is, by far, my favorite of all your photos. I just love everything about it. The perch, the background, and especially the over the shoulder pose.

This is exceptional. Good thinking to get it set up. This is by far one of my favorites of yours.

Brian -

Beautiful shot. The over the shoulder pose is sweet.

I remember this one well. Great shot and probably my favorite of this bird. It was worth the frigid trip, not?

Brian,

Great shot. I remember this one too, and it is nice to see it again. The pose, the snow, and the background are all wonderful.

Brian,

I remember this wonderful morsel so well. Just superb. Thanks also for reminding me of that other morsel that could help me as an assistant.
