Some years, a freshwater river exits below the waterline from the Monaco glacier on Spitsbergen. This causes a localized die-off of fish, which provide an easy meal for this large flock of Kittiwakes. Given enough time and patience (and the luck to be there in the right year), it's a matter of waiting for the glacier to calve and cause a nice blast-off to get a shot such as this. Taken off a boat with a Nikon F100, 500f4 with TC-14E, 1/250 at f4 on Provia 100F pushed to 200.
