Great Egret (Ardea alba)
Alligator Farm, St. Augustine, FL, on 30 May 2002

The kids are hungry and plead for food. About 30 seconds later, as is their custom, they will latch onto their parent’s bill, wrestle her/him to the bottom of the nest, and become ecstatic when they ingest the regurgitated meal. Ain’t kids great!

With white birds crisp, well-exposed images are not difficult to produce under Sunny-f16 conditions. This type of image is as appealing to me as one taken at sunrise or sunset.

Thanks for looking. Comments, critiques, and reposts are welcome.

"This type of image is as appealing to me as one taken at sunrise or sunset." When it's as well done as this one, I fully understand why! Only thing I don't understand is why the parents tolerate the abuse? ;)

Sandy,
I really like the way Mom appears to be looking at you while the chicks are clearly interested in nothing but food. The foliage and background are nice as well. If I had to look for a nit it would be the oof spot in the lower left corner but it is very minor. Nice work with what I consider a challenging subject in these conditions... even if you think it is easy :D

This is a vvery good shot in some very bright light. The AF can be a tough place to get a good background and you did well here.

Hard to do in such a place, well exposed, super detail and nice BG, Vegetation on the right balances the image rather well, I agree with Jim about the OOF thingy on the LFHC, Wonderful Sandy!!! 8)

Beautifully done! My only wish would be for the baby on the left to turn it's head just enough for it's eye to show. A real nit as this is a wonderful image.

Just about perfect. These aren't that easy to isolate at the Farm, but you did a great job. Exposure and color perfect. Thanks for sharing.

Such a simple yet powerful image. Love the yellow bills and green home. They are making me hungry.

Sandy, I like the design of this, the way the birds are arranged, and your composition. The exposure is perfect. Excellent control of the background here.

A beautiful shot....you are the master of white birds!!! A wonderful pose and explanation. Yeah...and kids are great. This reminds me of the look my twins gave me.....begging for money....right before they left for college. Some things never change!!!

Sandy,
Very nice job considering how difficult it is to get clean shots at the AF.
