Photo taken at Santee Lakes several months ago. Still a few months to go before they return again. Right now its too hot for man or duck at Santee Lakes IMO.

Lovely shot, Neil. Detail is excellent. Even in the somewhat speckled (dirt?) water, the reflection is sharp and clear.

A very good looking duck and excellent water and reflection. The image looks like it needs a little USM on the bird and a little blur in the water as the bird isn't totally sharp and the water has quite a bit of noise - probably due to ISO 400 which on a D30 can be very noisy - especially in blue.

Lovely image!! I love how the bill is just out of the water with the drip still intact. Killer reflection, too.

Hey Neil- Great to see you posting here. I had very few chances with Gadwall at Santee this year, looks like you had some success. Excellent detail and reflection. Ditto EJ's comments about the noise and sharpness. Love the pattern on this duck, can't wait til they come back.

Neil, I really like the Gadwall image, but only atop the water. The reflection shows the head larger. I realize it's due to the angle, but it does bother me.[/i]

Thanks everyone for your comments. I believe all of the black specks were actually floating debris. I agree that the blue is a bit "noisy" but I "solved" that problem when I upgraded to the 10D a couple of months ago.

I might have tried to shoot from lower but it might have changed the reflection too much. The head could be a little sharper. There is a bit of distracting noise in the image above and to the right.
