It looks like you had a fabulous time at Bosque. A very nice shot indeed, Lana! A dream come true for you ...
Amazing that you can get this close. Would you be going back again?

Hey Lana, this is a beauty, with the comp, lighting and sharpness exacting.
Your ability and dedication continues to impress me

You go girl!

Best, and thanks for the support

Great shot, Lana! Wasn't it just Saturday when you told me you suck at flight shots? I guess you can't make that claim anymore!

The light and exposure are wonderful. I'm a minority of one, I guess, in finding the composition somewhat awkward--too close to full frame. To my eye, cropping just ahead of the left wing looks better, simpler, and edgier (though not to all tastes, I'm sure).

Lana,
I'm usually one that prefers "whole" birds but this really does show some wonderful detail that you couldn't get otherwise. A great capture for sure, you timing and panning was perfect!

Lana, I've come back to this shot three or four times because it's so compelling but I wasn't immediately sure why until I read Cliff's post.

The eye(s) have it! Yep, in this shot the placement and clarity of the eye and head is so effective that it really dominates the entire shot. Really doesn't matter how much of the rest of the bird is shown -- this shot is great and it works.[/i]

Excellent DOF for f8 - and wonderfully frozen in time too. The light really brings out the details here. I get a kick out of their see-thru nostrils.
