(Great White Heron, Grassy Key, Florida Keys)
Nikon D100, Nikkor AF 80-200mm f/2.8D, 1/1000, f/4

Last October I was in the Keys and came across a large group of Great White Herons. This is one of the shots from that day. I've always had a hard time preventing the over-exposure white birds such as this. But this day I managed to improve my results.

Scott, I guess you did! Nice job especially with a fairly dark background where it is very easy to get fooled on exposure if a subject like this.

This is a pleasing photo, and the exposure is spot on

Welcome to Naturescapes, Scott. This is a perfectly lovely image, very well composed and exposed. I like the dof. I might consider a little more USM and Levels or Curves adjustment to bring out the feather detail which is present.

Hi Scott,

Sweet bird and a lovely image. Exposure and composition are very nice. Looks like a bright-overcast day which surely helped your cause here.

Well Done!
