Common Loon
Hawks, MI

I was putting together a loon calendar today and decided to post one of the shots I used that I have not posted before.

Canon EOS3 with 500mm IS on tripod on pontoon boat, Velvia 50 pushed 1 stop to 80.

Wonderful image. The chick is beautifully lit and sharp and the adult's head is just OOF enough.
There is something(a leaf?) on the back end of the adult that I would clone out.

The selective focus draws the viewer's attention directly to the chick. Sweet image. :)

Cheryl,
You need a high level cuteness alert on this shot. I love the combination of the OOF adult and the perfectly in focus little one.

I like the mother glancing back to check up on her passenger in the back seat.

The "leaf" looks to me like a touch of the primary feathers - easily toned down if needed. Very cute and very wonderful image.
