Another raptor-shoot image of a falconry bird. The bird was not restrained in any way, but the perch wasn't great, so I concentrated on closeups. While unrestrained, the bird was well conditioned by its handler using food as a reward. In the few shots where the falconer's hand strayed into a frame, it seems tiny next to the bird. The handler gently stroked the bird's tail to produce this reaction. In the wild, Bald Eagles scream to their mates, and also at stray eagles and other birds coming into their territories. The background is the Flatiron Range west of Boulder, CO. EOS-3, 400 DO, prob. w/1.4x, ambient less 2/3, Velvia at 80 and pushed one stop. Full frame.

Nice. I guessed Homer Alaska as soon as I saw it and was surprised to see it was in the lower 48.

Fantastic that you caught the screaming action. Great detail throughout.

I like the idea of the mountain/sky BG, not sure that I like the line it creates coming out of the birds head. Count me as undecided on the BG.

A great shot. Although, I might be tempted to crop just a bit off the right side. Not much...just a little.
