Nikon 500mm F4P/F4 Velvia +1. These guys are starting to show up at their usual winter haunts. Hope to better my files soon!

This image looks pretty good on my monitor  The only nit I have is a little stronger catch light.

Overall, very well done!

Great light and shooting to you all!

Nice one, Doug. The kingfisher prospects up my way are not looking too promising so far this winter. A couple of birds are around, but not in an approachable situation. This one should keep you covered for years, however.

Hey Doug,
Great perch and background. I too hope to find an approachable female this winter!

Well done. Great colors in bird and BG. Only wish would be for a bit more catchlight.

Nice one, Doug! Beautiful BG.
I also wish to get some more shots of kingfishers this winter. I'll take male or female!

Nice shot. Is the catch-light exactly like it was on film or did you enhanced it in PS? I'm asking this because it doesn't look very natural to me...

No I didn't touch the catchlight ( or lack of!), USM and smudged an area on the left. Doug

I really like this shot of a tough bird to get on film. Great background!

I think viewers are looking at the white speck near bill thinking that is the eye. The eye is further back in head with a faint catchlight.
Spend my day usually poking along backroads of New Jersey.
I'm a "digiscoper", way out of my league here, but am sure enjoying awesome photography from you talented folks....bob

Excellent image. This is one of the birds that always eludes me. They're either sitting on telephone wires or very skittish.
