I almost never shoot in my backyard because it is small and because until recently we never attracted many birds. This may have changed as we've put in a small waterfall and pond and changed our plants to be more bird friendly.
The BG here is a neighbor's tree. The jay is standing on the top of my wrought iron fence. I'll be putting a perch there right after I post this.

Richard,

The BG colors are very good on this, the pose is perfect, a bit of flash fill and the new perch should push these to the top.

Leave a few unsalted peanuts out and he will become a permanent visitor. Very nice Scrub Jay shot.

Richard,

This is very nice. I love that background. I can't wait to see what you get with the perch.

Nice light and bg. I will be watching to see how well you do attracting birds to your yard. Good luck and hope you had a great holiday. I sure did.

Richard, What a cool yard bird. A nice looking perch on that fence will work quite well with light and a background like that!

Nice work, Richard. I also have a small pond/waterfall in my backyard. It really does wonders for attracting birds.

Well done Richard. I agree that a perch we be much more pleasing.

Other than the perch which you have no control over, a super capture.
