A dull overcast day and muddy water, I had good luck approaching this duck but did not expect much due to the lighting conditions. The reflection turned out to be one of the better ones I have obtained. Cloned small debris spots in the water and croped 20%

The water here is so cool - it looks like she's swimming in Mercury.

Great image, Ken.
The overcast conditions rendered this with some beautiful tones.

Good work!

Sweet shot, Ken. You managed to get some light reflected onto her face to lighten it up. You don't always see that. The overcast conditions served you well!!

Ken,
I love the tones in this shot. I also like its simplicity. Good work.

Hi Ken. I have come back to this several times since I first saw it. I think this is an extremely elegant photo. The slight wake in the smooth water adds a nice touch of life and the slight head tilt adds an interesting expression to the bird. I *really* like this one. I don't think I've seen a nicer Hooded Merganser image.

Ken,
VERY NICE! I like the smooth-as-glass water that makes for an excellent reflection of the bird. The water droplets on the bird are a plus, too.
