I caught this pretty girl this morning at the Port Aransas, TX Birding Center. For just a brief time this morning the light was magnificent. The greens are the reflections of cattails in the BG.

EOS 1D with 600 and 2X TC, incident metering with no adjustment (1/500 and f11 @ ISO 250), flash at - 2. Cropped about 30% from original.

This looks just a tad soft to me. Seems like most of my shots with the 600 and the 2X TC are like this. Probably my technique.

Thanks for looking. All comments welcome.

Bruce, although I'm looking at this on a laptop, it doesn't look soft to me.

Nice looking image of a nice looking lady. The reflection is really nice.

Bruce,

A nice, peaceful image. I love how the blue reflections in the bow wave and wake break up the predominantly green water. Great reflection too.

Very nice. :)

Nice image. Maybe -1/3 less exposure and a head turn would make this better. Looks sharp on my monitor.

A gorgeous shot - I find females tough to photograph because they hightail it out of there like she is doing - a little more of a head turn would be great but I still love the shot.

Very, very nice!. I really like the colours and sharpness. I was shooting some of these last Sunday, but could not get close enough with my 100-400 + 1.4x

Nice green water and the reflection is beautiful. The head turn would have been a nice bonus.

I've had trouble getting sharp images with the 10D 600 w/ 2x, didn't have problems with slide film however. I figure it's my technique also but maybe it just needs extra USM? I don't know.

Bruce,

Excellent. I too am really impressed by the reflection which is great. Head turn would have been great, but, we can't always have everything. I would take this any day.
