Hello to everyone. It is great to see so many familiar names, along with the usual great photographs, all in one place again. It's been a while since I've participated anywhere online, mainly because I've been concentrating on my illustration work, but I've decided to refocus on my photography.

I've chosen as my first post here an image that some of you may have seen at one time on another site, in an inadequate attempt to thank the person who, like that other site, introduced me to this new and great place, and made taking this photograph possible. This osprey image was taken on my first STL workshop with Charles Glatzer in June 2002, and remains to this day one of my favorite photos of my favorite feathered friend.

Thanks Chas for the great opportunities you've given me, as well as, your continued friendship. And thanks to all responsible who make this new place possible.

Brett,
Lovely image. I am not wild about the frame, however.

I like the fanned out tail feathers and the intense stare of the bird. I'm not crazy about the clipped off wing-tips. I played with a more significant crop of either the top wing or bottom wing, to give a little more attention to the bird's head. This is also quite sharp and nice light.

Very cool - I like how his head is turned straight at you!

My nit is the clipped wings, but saying with that, I'd like to have this in my portfolio :D

Good one,

Brett, I'd prefer to see the entire wings, but since that's not possible, cropping even more, might make the image more powerful. THe head turn and stare are what makes this image.

With that flared tail and the head turned so those eyes are looking right at you, you don't miss the wing tips at all. The frame is a bit overpowering though. A terrific image.

It looks like the bird was directly over head. Neat image.
