Taken this morning. This Black-eared Kite was trying to make a landing on a perch not far from where I was shooting. I got just four shots before it took off again. It's always a challenge, for me at least, to capture perching raptors ...

Very nice raptor KK

I think you did a good job with the bright featureless BG. Good focus on the bird in an excellent pose.

Lovely detail in the feathers as well

Cheers

:D Great pose with very good detail. I find raptors extremely difficult to shoot.

Wing position is great and the BG is off white enough so as to not be too bothersome IMO. This is much more interesting then the typical perched raptor shot.

KK -

The pose with spread wings is sweet. Good job with the exposure against that white sky.
I have noticed a lot of your shots seem to be taken under what looks like cloudy conditions. Do you get many clear sky days out there?

Paul, It was a bright sunny day when this shot was taken. Actually it was blue sky overhead as I recall but not on the horizon which was filled with haze/smog (polution) as with most days here!
