Looks like this might turn into Sandhill week so I thought I would post one of my favorites from my first trip to Bosque last February. Taken at the Sandhill pool early one really cold morning.

EOS 1VHS, 500mm IS, tripod. Provia 100F, exposure on spot metering without correction.

Cool shot RK, really pops against the dark blue of the sky. Very sharp except the very tips, giving implied motion. Excellent in my book.

Robert,
I remember this one. It really has a 3-D look to it. Good job.

Wow, the lighting and that dark blue bg are amazing. Very different from most shots I've seen from Bosque.

Robert,

One great flight image. He really stands out thanks to the dark sky.

Great work. I like the colors and contrast. As a friend from the UK used to tell me, this might look even better presented with the bird flying to the right. :D In fact, I thought long and hard about my last post and decided that for the people that know Bosque and the angle of the light, it didn't look right flying to the right. I don't think yours has that problem.

Robert,

Excellent, like it against that dark sky and the lighting is dramatic making it stand out.

This is one of those rare images when the light surrounds the subject so well that it looks surreal, Lovely image and great detail, Still the light is too cool for morning light, at this time of day and due to the angle of the sun the light temperature should be slightly warmer!!, Just my taste !!
A magnificent shot any way you slice it !!, Very well done!!

Robert,

Great shot. I love the dramatic colors and the bird itself looks great. Way to go.
