Little Stint (Calidris minuta) – Walvis Bay, Namibia.

Canon EOS1v, 600mm/f4 + EF 2xII extender; beanbag.
Provia 100 + 1; f10, 1/500; full-frame.

Don't post many bird images, in fact this may be my first on this site.

What makes this my favorite bird shot from 2003 is the ripples produced by the bird's feeding action. This repetitive probing is so rapid that this is the only shot in a sequence where there is no motion blur.

Photographed on wintering grounds in Southern Africa - January 2003.

Excellent shot. The ripples make this for me. Looks like it needs a slight CW rotation.

I can see why its a favorite - its an excellent photo but it is significantly tilted and needs to be rotated clockwise by several degrees.

Yeah, the ripples do it for me, too. EJ has pointed out the only nit I can see. Great stuff.
