This is a captive Owl at the Mountsberg Wildlife Sanctuary. I had only just got my 10D and the EF100-400 in April and was trying them out. A friend printed this image for me on a 11 x 14 glossy, turned out spectacular. The facial feathers look so soft I feel like stroking them. I tried not to burn out the top of the head but I think I did just a tad. Thank you for looking.

This is a nice shot. The exposure looks a tiny bit hot at the top of the head but not too bad. I wish I could see the eye just a little bit better.

I would love an opportunity to photograph one of these owls this close. :)

Cool bird. I would wish for less of an upward angle.

Nice one, I can see what you mean about the softness of the feathers.

Lat, This fellow looks petable indeed !!! I've only seen one pair in my life in a large cage at a rehab center in Vermont. Clearly a favorite !!

These are such gorgeous birds and this one is especially beautiful with his pure white plumage. While I would also like a less steep shooting angle, I think this is still very nice. I really like the effect of the black background here.

Lat,

Nice soft feathers, a bit of flash would make the eye light up.
