John,

Nice family shot with good position of all four heads. A bit brighter would help it along.

Great image John. I'm new at this stuff too and get quite confused with all the variations of image adjustments. Hope to see more of your shots.

John,

I think this is wonderful! This is exactly the type of image I would like and why I want to at least stop here for a morning while in Florida in a couple weeks. Thanks for posting it!

ps: You can brighten it a little in PS by using levels but there is more than one way to skin a cat. Levels usually work for me, just play with the sliders on a duplicate image and see what it does and how they work.

Actually looks fine on my monitor but it's not the latest and greatest! :?

Again...kudos!

And what a first post it is. A very nice photo with great subject matter and an excellent background.

John, a fine start. To improve an already good image. Put it into PS, invoke Levels, and set the middle input slider to 1.09. Then sharpen the image two or three times using USM at 100%, 0.2, 0. The change is subtle but nice.

Great shot, those chicks are so cute! I agree with a levels adjustment, but not sharpening- there is already significant haloing in the image.

John:

I don't recall a first post I have liked any better than this one. It is a tiny bit dark, but Sandy's advice will take care of that.
Too bad that left bird wasn't asleep when you took this. He's a slight disruption to an otherwise perfect composition.

Welcome! This is excellent---would surely follow Sandy's detailed suggestions to improve your web presentation. It's all there in the photo; it's quite delightful.
