I just got back from a two week trip. Some of it was business in Las Vegas, but I was able to drive from Vegas to Bosque for 1 full day and one morning. I had never been to Bosque before, so I was very excited. Wouldn't you know, it was overcast and rainy all but about 2 hrs. I saw lots of beautiful sights, but I didn't get very many good pictures. This is one of the ones I liked.

Very nice. The overcast doesn't hurt when shooting these white geese.

Nice capture Jim. Sharp with good detail.

Jim:

I think the bad weather worked to your advantage on this shot. It has a nice, moody, real-world feel to it, and you didn't have to worry about blown highlights or harsh shadows. Actually one of the nicer goose shots I have seen.

Once again you show excellent hand held skills.

I think this is a very nice flight shot.

We are going to stop by Bosque this weekend on the way back to Central Texas from Phoenix.

Very well done, Jim. Nice size and placement in the frame. I hope to get something approaching this nice this coming weekend.

Hans held and 220m eh...really nice! I heard they were out further this year from someone. Never been there myself and almost went this year but opted for Fla for a week...bringing Louise too. You did great, so was it what you expected? Congrats on a really fine image especially for the short time you had to shoot!!

Great shot, Jim. You really captured the mood of Bosque with this shot. If all cloudy days produced shots like this, bring on the clouds!

Very nice shot!!! That's a heck of a drive since I don't think you meant Las Vegas, NM which is only about 3 hours away.

Everything was better than I expected except the weather. What a place.

Yep. I meant Las vegas, Nevada. It's about 700 miles. It was worth the trip even with the lousy weather. I took a slight detour to Sedona, Arizona and made a stop at the Petrified Forest/Painted Desert. I love the West. I wish I could get there more often. I know I'll be going back to Bosque ASAP.

Jim,

This is a very nice shot. The background with the mountain range gives a nice feel to the image.
