This is one of my favorite flying shots. Image was captured in Alaska last March.

Looking through my Eagle images tonight has got me fired up for my return trip in February. What a place!!!

Canon 1D / 100-400 IS / 1/640 @ F/8 iso 100

Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

This is really a cool shot. The first thing that I thought of was a skateboarder in midair.....then I saw the fish. Great shot!!!

This has a somewhat unique composition and pose. Those two things are what makes this image special.

Excellent shot!!

Very nice composition.
Too bad Jean doesn't thaw those fish out. They do look a little stiff in a photo.

Awesome Eagle image, Scott! I really like the unusual position, especially the parallel vertical lines formed by the legs and the inner wings. The head turn is perfect and draws the eye right into the frame. Would make a great double spread cover for Audubon magazine in the old days when they had a wrap-around cover!

Nice. Ditto the skateboarding comment. Is Mittleman serious about the fish being frozen? It does have a surreal, toy-like look, but part of that is its small size compared with the eagle.

Hey Scott,

Very nice. One of the better images I've seen from last year's shoot at Homer. The frozen fish doesn't bother me too much. A fish this size really doesn't look too different either way. Now if it were a 7lb salmon .... :D

Really well-timed shot, and the placement in the frame makes it just about perfect. I love the wingtips.

Cheers

Carl

Agreed Richard. Best case would be to have live fish thrown, however, thats not the gig in Homer, as I'm sure you're aware.

Thanks Carl! I'm looking forward to shooting Homer again in late Feb.

Excellent composition, I especially like the feeling of implied motion by the head turn and tilted body position. It makes me anticipate it flying across the frame.
