American Avocet Recurvirostra americana

While this isn't my favorite image of these beautiful birds, Avocets are among my personal favorite species. This was taken in April of this year at Belmar Park.

I like images of these birds better when their legs show more but the water level was higher than normal this spring. It is believed that the unusually high water level was why these birds didn't breed at Belmar this year. :(
