Mute Swan Cygnus olor
EOS3, 500F4L IS + 1.4xTCII, Provia 100F, full frame

This has to be my favourite bird shot I've taken. Mainly because this is exactly how I imagined the shot before I took it. This guy was preening for some time so I was able to take the time to think about the shot and not just "click-and-pray". I had to wait for the swan to drift into the right position both for composition and for light.

Comments welcome and thanks for looking,
Dave

Certainly dramatic, Dave. The chiaroscuro works well. My one nit is that I'd like to see a bit more of the eye.

I really like this one....I can see why it would be a favorite. I'm always amazed at the creativity that I see here. I don't think I would ever "see" this shot.....well, maybe someday. Great job!

Very well done. The dramatic lighting gives this a very artsy feel.

Great light and shooting to you all!
