Tree Swallow - Point Pelee National Park, Ontario, Canada
EOS 1D, 600mm, 1/400, f/11, Fill @ -2, ISO 320

This shot was taken 1.5 years ago at Point Pelee National Park on the shores of Lake Erie. I found the birds to be unusually approachable throughout this park resulting in lots of photo opportunities of many species.

Nice shot. These guys are beautiful, as is this one with it's irridescence. My biggest problem is getting close enough to them....and quick enough. Great job.

I remember this day. This would be the split rail fence in the Deslaurier parking lot. I recall meeting you & Artie along with a group there. Unfortunately they took down the bird boxes along this fence last year, so the swallows aren't as predictable there as they were. Let's hope it's only a temporary measure.

As I recall you were hoping to capture an image of a pair mating. Hope you got it (too).

I don't want to be overly Pythonesque but "beautiful plumage" jumps immediately to mind. The combination of a stunning subject on a simple canvas works wonderfully here.

Regards

John

EJ,

Love the BG colors and tonal graduation. The sharp perch and feather detail make this an excellent image. Well done!

Ohhh, I like this one. The bird is small in the frame but very nicely so. I've always wanted to make it up to Point Pelee in the Spring. I'm sensing an upcoming vacation. :)

EJ,

Very nice shot. I really like the pose with the head turn and the dropped wings.
