This was taken on my recent trip to AK. WE had our flight from Homer to Hallo Bay delayed several times due to weather. During one delay we took our shorter lenses and walked along the Homer Spit. Phil Shaw and I were slowly approaching a bald eagle on a post when someone drove up the the post and got out of their vehicle. The eagle took off and flew past us. I was able to get off this one shot with my 100-400 as he went by. I am looking forward to February when I will be able to get LOTS of bald eagles for my files.

Nice shot Cheryl.

Would have liked a little more light under the bird but still a great photo.

Drove up and got out :?: Sounds like the same guy that scared off the Osprey we were shooting in Florida. Ran across the road with a little P&S to get a closer image. At least you got the bird coming toward you!

I like the composition. I think a little shadow recovery could bring out some detail from the under side.

Excellent Cheryl. Sharp from front to back with good detail in the feet and fish.. I'm in your group for Homer, looking forward to a productive trip, and should be some laughs to boot.

Gee I'd take a "grab shot" like this any day. Nice placement of the eagle in the frame, and the fish is a bonus!

A lovely shot, Cheryl. PS can probably give you more underwing detail.

It's a beautiful composition and the sky is great! A little light underneath is about the only thing left that would improve this one. Very nice.

Hard to improve on this Cheryl. Rarely see a shot of one packing a lunch. Nice.

The bird looks very majestic here and the minor cloud puffs in the sky are a great addition. This is a shot I would love to have myself. :)
