This was kind of a science project. We had already shot the cranes every which way we could think of and somebody said it would be an awesome panorama...so I took the challenge. It is not too bad IMHO, considering it is a 7 image merge... You can easily see how the fog was rolling in to the pond as well as myriad activity among the cranes...should make those of you that have been to Bosque smile and those that have not should leave right now and shoot with NSN this coming weeekend... :-)

The orginal of this file is 100MB and would print at 10 X 60....so it really suffers the compression to make it a postable image... the artifacts at the top of the image are barely noticable on my screen at full resolution...

Enjoy,
Jeff

I'll bet this is incredible as a full size print. It appears totally seamless at this size. The fog at the top gives the image depth.

Very nice!!

Fantastic! Incredible merge of the images, like Bill said it's tough to notice any seams at this size. The fog creates a wonderful effect.

Very nice. Perhaps you could post a 650x650 slice for detail :).

Here is an insert...this is easily the worst of the seams...I spent about 30 minutes on the version that I posted. It will take about another hour to get it ready for me to send out for printing...I am keen to see how it looks at full size in print....I have a 21" monitor and it looks pretty kewl at home... :-)

And it even has room for text at the top in the fog :).

Thanks for sharing the more detailed stripe, Jeff, I'm sure it will make a great print.

Good idea, and very nice, though I see some vertical bands. Are those the artifacts you mentioned? Bosque's a great place for this sort of thing, though I think using an X-Pan or Fuji 6 x 17 would be a lot easier (though a lot more expensive!).

Jeff,
I'd love to see this as a mural. With that many birds and that much detail I'm sure it would be beautiful!

This is a great effect. I do see what appears to be separations in the fog, but it's a great shot nevertheless. I too would love to see this printed!

Since I cannot afford the panorama cameras, I fool with this digitally. The banding that in the fog, is what I called the artifacts as they are really invisible on my monitor...once I take some more time with this I will fix the rest of the issues that I find...

Thanks for your encouragement...I will keep on playing with this. The Mt. Pyramid shot that I posted in landscapes was a 2 image merge...much easier to manage that....

Cheers,
Jeff
