Sorry I haven't been posting or commenting recently - still really busy trying to teach those kids something about chemistry. I finally got out to do some shooting this morning - at my favorite hangout - the Port Aransas, TX Birding Center.

I have taken numerous shots of these guys over the past few winters, and although this is far from perfect it is the best harrier shot I have ever taken.

EOS 1D, 600 and 1.4X, ambient metering (ISO 400, f10, f10), fill flash at
-2 stops.

Thanks for looking. All comments welcome.

How you got it to face the camera I'll never know, well done!

Bruce,

Fess up, you had to attract his attention some how. Just kidding. Whatever made him turn toward you, certainly made the image. Great capture.

Bruce,

Wonderful image. I really like the wing position and the head turn toward you couldn't be better.

I think I may seen it all now...in flight, in focus, properly exposed and posing...this is not fair....

Whoa......what a shot. The look alone is enough for me but you went ahead and got it all. Ever so glad you got out to shoot. I'm swamped myself and now with the dismal winter weather, I may be done for awhile. Get out when you can and get more of these puppies!!!!
