I'm really happy with my new toy's :

Canon 500mm f/4.5 : :D
Gitzo 1325 : :D (an amazing improvement  )
Better Beamer : :D (needs more experience, spotlight mostly to big and to harsh)

Shutter speed: 1/125 sec
Aperture: 6,3
Exposure mode: Program
Flash: External E-TTL
Flash exposure compensation: -1/3
Metering mode: Evaluative
ISO: 250
Lens: 500,0 mm+1.5
Monique, I am packed and ready to go, I may not look like much but I am well behaved and can grow on you like a fungus, with no cure for it!!!

Monique,

Congrats on your new equipment. A very nice photo. You did a great job with the fill flash. I don't think that you will be able to get this kind of excellent result from your flash and have control over the size of the catchlight. You could tweek the highlight in PS. It dosn't look to big to me. This is also very sharp for 1/125.

Monique,

A Nice Chickadee and yellow leaves (are leaves are all gone). Is 500 + 1.5 a x1.4? F9 would have kept the whole bird sharp. The 500 likes to be stopped down 1-2 with the tele extender for sharpest results. Glad to hear the new gear is working out.

Thanks Alan and Ken,

Yes, it is of course 1.4 ...

This is what I mean with the too bright catch light: 100% crop

Congrats on the kit Monique - it is doing you well. Nothing to add to what has already been said on the sharpness. I like the composition. Dick

A wonderful shot. And oh those new toys. I'm telling you, you're in business now. Nothing like a 500mmL IS, tripod and BB. You are going to get some great shots with this setup.
