Bosque 2003: Fogged in Sandhill

The fog was pretty thick, but as the sun began to glow and the fog thin out a bit the cranes got ready to leave. I was lucky enough to still be there for this shot....stretching before takeoff....

Nikon D100, Besty (Sigma 300-800) 440mm, 1/400@F5.6, ISO400, full frame

This really captures that early morning mood when the cranes start to get active. I can count about 2 dozen cranes in this shot. The well placed star character with the wing stretch is excellent. Wonderful balance of fog and light. Great image!

I like this image alot. In particular I like the "layers" of cranes, starting with the in-focus cranes in the foreground and ending with the "foggy" cranes in the background.
