This was shot at Conneaut Harbor (OH) during the blackout. There is a neverending supply of shorebirds this time of year. You have to sit in the mud or water but with patience you can get close.

Along with the numbers comes disputes. I was lucky with this one as the encounter was brief. I got 3 shots off before it was over and this is the only good one...my favorite of the whole trip. Many thanks to Bob Royse who helped point out and ID some of the birds for me as well as his frequent reports on the Ohio birdline.

Great angle, great action, no clipped wings, beautiful color, good exposure and sharp focus. What else could you ask for?
Well done. :D

Great catch Lana. These altercations happen often but are very difficult to anticipate and capture. Nice job.

Beautiful picture! The reflection in the water adds to it. You surely had to be in the right place at the right time.

Great catch! Love the interaction - that the background is so uniform really draws even more attention to the birds. Very well done!

Perfect timing. Wings straight up, feet almost on the ground, and the other with a slightly opened mouth and wings up. Superb. Whites on the right bird a bit hot, but I'm guessing that he just "flashed" you those whites for a split second.

Lana, This is aoustanding.

Even without the action the photo would be great, but this is just terrific.

Wonderful action with great DOF. I'm surprised that the one flying in is that sharp at 1/250
