Great Blue Heron
At sunset in Florida

This is a favorite of mine. The previous day Greg and I had been reviewing our images and he had taken this magnificent silhouette shot of a another photographer - very artistic.

When we came across this GBH and people were photographing it from the other side bathed in gorgeous light, I decided to try some silhouette shots of my own. The bird was most cooperative.

Digital capture with Nikon D1, Sigma 300mm f2.8 lens, handheld.

Comments appreciated!

As a heron fan I can only welcome shots like these.

Definately a winner.

Very nicely done. You keep doing things a bit differently than the rest of us and the results are outstanding. (Your shot of the bridge in St. Pete is still on my mind!)

Sharp sil, Heather! Lovely colors and a moody piece. The sort order seems to be working well, too!! 8)

Just beautiful, Heather. Perhaps a mild sharpening halo but otherwise on the money.

Very nice. I really like the toes hanging over the edge of the perch on either side.

I like the simplicity and the mood of this and of course the colors are beautiful. Glad you got a millisecond to get out from behind the scenes and show off some of your work... well done Heather.
