This is my 1st post of a picture on NSN so I wanted to post something I had not shown before. This was taken last winter from my studio window of a song sparrow on a feeder about 3 feet from the window. I got a lot of great pictures then with my fairly new 300/2.8 and 37mm of extension tubes on. I don't have the data anymore because when I switched over to ACDSee I lost all the raw data. It was fun for a while getting head shots of all these little birds!
Comments and critiques always welcome!

Wow this is terrific, exposure and color very good. Love the feather detail. Bill looks a little hot on my monitor...but I'd sure be very happy with this one!!! Thanks for sharing.

I love close-up images such as this. Feather detail and BG are excellent. I agree with Michael that the beak is hot below and above. I also suggest a tiny bit of selective sharpening to the face.

Nice to see you here, Gail.

Looks like he is announcing something ;) I too love close-ups like this and they are not easy with little birds! I agree with Sandy's comments above, but would also prefer the eye be slightly lower in the frame. Still a neat shot and great detail in the feathers. Nice background too!

Gail, very sweet shot, isn't he a cutie. Lovely detail in his plumage and great bg. I agree with the usm round the head.

I was also thinking that it needed a bit of sharpening for display on the web and a little more room above the head. Good to see you here. I'm looking forward to more images.

Jeepers! Except for the overexposure around the beak and the slight softness, I think this is a great in-your-face! :D
