As my first post I thought I'd post one of my favorite images of a baby Burrowing Owl stretching his wings - taken two months ago. This was shot just a few minutes after the sun crested the hills to the east. I don't know their exact age at this point but it was about 10 days before they started to leave the nest on their own (I wish I had more days with them - they were quite comical).

Technical data: Nikon D100, 600mm, 1/640s f/4, ISO: 200, WB: Cloudy -1, Tone: Normal, Sharpening: Normal.

Scott, an attractive pose from this bird. Despite the low sun, a yellow cast still appears to be present. I'd also like some room for the owl: on the left for his tail and on the right for him to look out of the frame.

I agree with Sandy on this. A bit too tight all around but a very nice capture and extremely cute.

A very cool shot - a bit too big in the frame but otherwise very nice.

While all the other comments seem to be pretty much right on I would like to add that I like the little raised foot and wing position. :)

I pretty much agree with what everyone has written so far. One last thing is your presentation. A D100 image, whether RAW or jpeg, needs to be sharpened a bit when reduced for web presentation. A good starting place for this size image is 200, .3, 2 depending on the level of noise and contrast of colors in the image.

I'm looking forward to seeing more from you.
