Bissen Lake, Minnesota.
I was able to get fairly close to a group of phalaropes by starting before sunrise and belly crawling through the marsh to the edge of the water.

Great catch of the wingstretch! I like the nice blue water, and the little stems of vegetation kind of add to this as it's all in a row. I think I see a slight color cast on the bird (judging from the whites) but it seems minor and is an easy fix in PhotoShop if you're so inclined.

Good that you were there at the right moment and had enough room in your frame to catch the behavior!

A good pose and generally a nice image Bill. The colors however on the bird seem a bit odd as if possibly there was a bit too much image editing.

You caught this one in a perfect pose. Good catch :D
As already mentioned the image has a slight colourcast, but if the slide is OK then it's no problemo !

Excellent shot Bill! The leg and wing stretch really makes this shot for me.

Bill, everything Heather said, but I think it could be a bit darker overall.

Great photo.

Hi Bill. While I pretty much agree overall with the color cast comments I love the wing stretch. I also like the inclusion of the vegetation as a touch of habitat.

A very nice image! Love the wing stretch and the bird's position. I might be tempted to crop a bit off the left (everything left of the B in your name) to uncenter the bird, but that's a real nit. Nice shot!

Very cool behavior - unforutnately your choice of film makes it almost impossible to have blacks and whites with details as Velvia doesn't have enough exposure range.
