Serengeti, 2002. I've been going through my images from Tanzania, seeing what I want to differently for next summer's trip. This guy is definitely one to try again. The lilac breasted roller is just about the most colorful bird I've seen. This guy is a little ragged, but he has the wildest blue I've seen on a roller.

D60, 100-400 at 400, ISO 800 (duh! the ability to change ISO from shot to shot is a positive only when you remember to change it back!), 1/1600 at f5.6. Cropped from the bottom to remove more of the rock perch.

Gorgeous bird. I'd try to tone down the highlights some!

Great bird, great pose and awesome colors. It seems a little bright overall to me. An easy fix though.

Very nice. :)

Rich, with colors like this on a bird, It's very tempting to present it a little bright. The BG and rocks are a little bright to me. Great detail in the bird.

Rich, I agree a bit bright but I think a good curves adjustment can help with some of that. One of my favorite birds and presented well.

This shows an interesting looking bill. Looks like difficult high sun to me and you handled it ok.

Exquisite bird. The light appears a bit harsh and possibly this could use a touch more USM.
