As soon as I saw the subject for this week's motif, the idea for this kind of shot popped into my mind. Execution was rather simple. I set up an attractive perch against a dark background that would accentuate the action. Beneath the perch is a platform feeder on which you can place roadkilled squirrels laced with harsh laxatives.(Alan and Alex have the exact model number of the perch/platform combo if any of you are interested).
Once the setup was complete I camped nearby in a bag blind and waited. I actually got shots of several different birds, but only this one would sign a model release, and only after I agreed to protect his identity.

Canon 1D, 500 w/2x and custom splash guard.

If I am not mistaken that platform is called "Roadkill Feeder-Pooper "stand, only one model is available so far, Nice action and a well pressurized ejection of liquid lava!!!
Twice, I have almost been baptized by an Osprey, her ejecta was about three feet long and looked like a flying snake, if the camera would have been on a tripod at the time, I would had been in deep guano, thank God I was on my monopod and was able to get out of the way, I have also shots of Snail Kites doing the same!!!!, Nice of you to protect her decorum!!!
Congrats!! 8)

I thought you aspired to be a photographer not a proctologist, but this is evidence you want to be a dual professional.

Well,

IF we all want to feel and act like 14 year olds   , I will chime in on a scene I saw yesterday....I live on the 17th hole of the Live Oak Golf Course in the community I am in....

Between the 7th tee and the 7th hole, there is a nice sized lake that sometimes plays home to a Great Blue Heron. I was out on my back porch yesterday, and saw him (her) flying around the lake, and much to my horror (and a saying a quick prayer for anyone below him) he let loose a serious "cloud" of poop.....what a "mess" that was!!!!!

It is not amazing how we can find something amusing out of a bird's, uh, bathroom antics????

Cheers,

This must be one of Alex's perches. Mine have a no-poop zone on them, :)

Killer shot A.J.

Well, it's a technically perfect, pleasingly composed behavior image. Hiding his identity was probably appropriate. ROFLMAO! Nice "shot"
