 As soon as I saw the subject for this week's motif, the idea for this kind of shot popped into my mind. Execution was rather simple. I set up an attractive perch against a dark background that would accentuate the action. Beneath the perch is a platform feeder on which you can place roadkilled squirrels laced with harsh laxatives.(Alan and Alex have the exact model number of the perch/platform combo if any of you are interested). Once the setup was complete I camped nearby in a bag blind and waited. I actually got shots of several different birds, but only this one would sign a model release, and only after I agreed to protect his identity. Canon 1D, 500 w/2x and custom splash guard. aj |
