From last year.
Alaska, Lake Clark NP area up the coast from Silve Salmon Lodge.

A little tight in the frame, but that is where I was when he hopped close. retreating was not condusive to the bird remaining in the flowered schrubs, so the photo is tight. For printing, extra space can be cloned in, but I chose to present the image as shot.

Steven, The tightness is a minor consideration in comparison to the over exposure and extreme colors as presented!!, Any idea as to the why of this ??, Nice bird and nice pose as well! 8)

Steve,

This image has potential but seems to be oversaturated which may have led to the hot whites. Cloning a bit along the left side would put some room behind the tail.

Steve,

This looks too saturated and needs more space about the plover.

A pretty photo. I would have been tempted to turn the camera horizontal.

Steve, I would go with Alex's comments on the exposure and color as presented. Was it from a slide scan?

Steve,

You've heard about the saturation and exposure issues. Did you happen to record your exposure settings? I love the inclusion of the flowers. They are very complementary to the subject.

Out of curiosity, did you get any horizontals?

This was shot while my computer memory was being destroyed last year. This was film since no exposure data is included. I did saturate a lot in PS, so that is correct. Also, there were horiz and vert shots.
I tend to oversaturate because the posts are often not the same as on my monitor. It does not seem consistant, but could be the color spaces, which I have to learn about.

The shot's tightness in the frame doesn't bother me. The way overdone contrast and blown out whites do detract from this image though.

Based on constructive commentd, I went back to the original scan and did little to the plover, but couldn't resist a little saturation sponge on the flowers, also aded some space to the left.
How is this?
