Great pose and excellent exposure here. It would be nice to see more room on the bottom, though.

You certainly didn't need to go to Alaska to find them. After the Killdeer this is the most abundant nesting shorebird in Indiana. There are a lot of birds to photograph in the mid-west too!

Cheryl, this is remarkably exposed and the markings are so well shown. I think if I were printing and framing, I would create a border wider on the bottom to give the impression of more underfoot area. Nice work (if somewhat sloppy mucky at the same time)! :D

This is a wonderful shot but the story with Chas is priceless. I can't believe that you were taken in by this one. Next time.....send him in the water....payback is hell!!

Lana, Just to clarify-I was not taken in. I knew there was no such thing as a spotted ritzafratzen, having heard Chas call several other birds that-usually when they were to far away to ID easily. Besides when i asked him, he could not tell me the latin name for the sr (I made that one up) But I thought it made a good story to go along with our time killing crawl in the mud. Our bear guide did think we were nuts going to so much trouble for such a little bird but since there was not a bear in sight...
