Neat looking bird! This is a nicely done image. Including the birds entire tail make the bird appear smaller in the image but I certainly wouldn't have done it any differently. Nice light and great background. A very nice image!

Cool looking bird. I'm sure it's not easy to get the whole tail in the frame but you did it! I think this is well done, I like the composition, the exposure seems good for both light and dark elements in the image, and the bird has a "fluffed up" look that's kind of cool.

Awesome image of an awesome bird. I love the composition. The muted background colors help make the bird really stand out.

Geurt,

A great photo. Nice clean shot. I love that upright pose of the bird. Great BG.

Tough bird to shoot and frame. In this case, I might have put more space on the top than on the bottom. :)

I noticed this was shot in Tv mode with a shutter speed of 1/320. The 10D will only sync to 1/200. If you set your shutter speed above 1/200, it won't have any effect, I think. Maybe E.J. or someone else could elaborate on that. Exactly what happens when then shutter speed exceeds the flash sync maximum speed?

This is a great image of a cool bird. The diag. perch really works well with the long vert. tail. Good exp. on the blacks also.

That is one serious tail! Wonderfully done; love how the bird jumps from the background. Like Tony, I wish for just a little more room at the top.

Oh, WOW! A very interestingly proportioned animal. I like the photo and would only consider rotating the image CCW and cropping is you have any room at all to spare. I think the visual weight and bird balance would feel better with more of a diagonal line. 8)

Really neat bird, excellent environment, just makes it wonderful and unusual for those of us who have not been in S.A. Since you are there, could do you have access to a phone book in Port Elizabeth. I lost track of a friend there.
Thanks,
please respond directly to me at drbein@aol.com if you can assist.

Geurt,

What a neat looking bird. I've been to Haut Bay Aviary but never saw one of these.
