Classic osprey pose; just bright enough! Well set off against the background. I would take this shot exactly as is.

The light on this is great! Fantastic background, great head turn on the bird...like Rich, I wouldn't change a thing. Great catch!

Bill, you nailed it, the exposure looks great. Love the BG and the detail in the bird. The head turned towards the camera add a lot.

This is a great shot. I love the eye level view, feather detail and blue BG. The head/eye looks just a hair soft to me, nothing a little selective USM couldn't fix. This is WONDERFUL!

Thanks!

In the last week or so, a number of you have given me honest and sound advice. That is difficult to come by. Some of you have gone out of your way to be helpful, in some instances even looking at an original RAW file and providing me with useful feedback. This speaks highy of this community.

We all love photography, and the great art of finding the perfect light, the perfect focus, the perfect background, the perfect pose. None of us will ever achieve that goal without the counsel and mentoring that comes from those with experience.

I want to improve and your continued help and assistance has helped me take one small step in the right direction.

With warmest regards to all, Bill

Bill,

Great pose and light. What I like best is the fact that you appear to be shooting at his eyelevel. What's going on at Honeymoon Island this time of year?

As can be expected, Honeymoon is filled with birds! Yesterday, I saw six Osprey within 100 feet of one another. Egrets, Herons, Little Blues, Snowys, Osprey, and Purple Martins, Jays, etc. etc. When the wind dies down and the sky is clear, it is just magnificient!

Come on down, Florida needs the revenue!

A very nice and clean, well executed photo. My beef with Honeymoon is that it opens too late to catch the great light or has that changed?

You can buy an annual pass to all Florida State Parks that allows you to enter at any time and stay as late as you like. Honeymoon Island State Park opens at 8:00 AM, but with the pas you can call ahead and get the combination to the gate. It is worth the extra money. I think it is about $85 per year and allows entry to all Florida parks.
